Hello folks,
is there any way to define a specific folder where all the recordings are saved? Per default it's "C:\Users\{PC NAME}" and slowly the folder gets messier and messier if I don't move all the recordings manually, especially if I bulk record.
Would be awesome to set a default folder for quality of life.

Hi,
left beside REC button there is a button named FOLDER. Here you can set a folder of your choice.

That's what I thought, too. But Schville was talking about the Monkey Business VM Recorder module.

Yeah, that's the Voltage Modular built-in recorder. Thought it was clear since it's in the Monkey Business sub-topic, sorry for the misunderstandingHi,

Yes you're right. Not sure though which recorder suits my needs best. At least the built-in recorder allows to specify a folder. That's what I thought, too. But Schville was talking about the Monkey Business VM Recorder module.
Best work-around I can think of is to configure the recorder as needed, save the recorder into a cabinet preset and load the module from there instead of the module library. Works but it's not that elegenat, so I wondered if there might be a better way

MeldaProduction has MRecorder. It's part of their free bundle. When I was working on some things I wanted to preserve with audio files, I used MRecorder and it met my needs. Since it's free, you can give it a try.

Hi Schville,
yes, there is. Click on the "Select File" button (bottom right), then navigate to the folder where you want your recordings to be saved, enter a file name (use the % character to add numbering to your files, e.g. "my recording %.wav") the click "Save". VM Recorder will then record files to the selected folder and number the audio files continuously. Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Martin

if I understand you right this doesn't work as a default folder. Like when I set it up in a patch, I need to do this in another patch as well. Guess the workaround to save one recorder in an empty cabinet works best for now.
Or maybe I understood you wrong?

Re: File destination in VM Recorder
You've got it right. VM Recorders default location is the users home directory and at the moment there is no way to change the default. But, since the last selected directory is part of the preset, you could store module presets for your most used output directories and then easily recall them.Schville wrote: ↑Mon May 26, 2025 4:31 pm Hey Honki,
