Ugly pop/click with fast release time bass presets

Post by Superabbit »

I love the DCO-106, especially for bass.

However, there are 2 presets (and they happen to be my favorites) where upon releasing the key, they make a nasty "click" sound.

It happens with the PYB preset and the Res Bass 1 presets. All the other bass presets are fine!

To repro it, select Res Bass 1 and play a low note, count "one one thousand" and release. Select PYB and do the same thing; it also happens if I play staccato.

I was able to tame it by flipping the switch to ENV in the VCA section and setting Release to 10mS, but it's there in the factory preset and I suspect you don't want factory presets misbehaving.

I notice that all of the other factory bass presets have the switch on ENV and the release time set higher, which is likely why they don't make the nasty click sound. I browsed presets in other categories and some of the ones that have fast release times also made the click sound on release.

If this is Juno 106 behavior that was imitated, then fine, but if it's not, I think it's a problem.
