Votage Modular: Split Poly into Individual Channels

Post by PeteWithAP »

I have a setup similar to the one presented in the "working with poly modules" guide.

Is it possible to split the Poly Amplifier + poly output into individual channels?
(eg, let's say I want to further process just the first channel)

If you have VM Core, then use the Poly to Mono module.

However, you have little control over how notes are allocated to individual poly channels when you use the Poly Sources panel. It's pretty much a round-robin process (unless you retrigger the same note before all voices are used up). So, having special further processing on, say, Channel 1 (as per your hypothetical patch example) won't necessarily relate to the lowest of highest note played - it'll be unpredictable and arbitrary.

Thanks. That is the module I was looking for.

Indeed. It would be nice to be able to extract the lowest or highest note, but I imagine this is more complicated.

Aarnville has a Poly to Mono splitter that keeps the notes ordered from lowest to highest. It's even on sale right now.
