Would someone be so kind as to tell me whether or not deleting 37 Gigs worth of videos would help VM run better?"

How much free space do have left on your system disk (i.e. where the Operating System and VM application reside)?

Thanks for responding. Looks like 138GB used 101 remaining

It seems that little usage wouldn't
really affect it. They SAY leave 20% open...music is pretty CPU intensive

Yeah, I totally agree. I'd expect processor spec and RAM would be far more critical to the smooth running of VM.

found another 8gig dimm for 30 bucks. Not sure if it will reduce the strain on the modest i7 8700 3.2 6 core. What do you think?

use Activity Monitor to see how much RAM, CPU, disk writes are happening. I wouldn't upgrade anything without leaving that open and watching as i work to see how much of those things I'm using. On windows, I leave task manager running 24/7. When you see things pegging at 100%, that's when you know you've got to upgrade (or work more efficiently if you don't want to spend $$$)

8th gen i7 is a good chip. if you're maxing that out you'll probably max out most other chips unless you've got money to burn. It might make more sense to work more efficiently (freezing tracks, using less CPU-intensive fx plugins, less tracks, closing other programs, etc)

man, I've tried everything. I just write crazy patches. If anyone gets bored, check it out. I am not sure if I can clean it up. I have 12 threads running...
