Voltage Modular Feature Requests

I think you are confusing the third party developers with Cherry Audio. Cherry Audio have not released new modules for Voltage Modular in a long time and they don’t really engage on social media or forums about Voltage Modular from what I can tell. I and a few others have tried to drum up some interest on KVR, Discord and Facebook etc but from Cherry Audio’s public comms point of view, there’s not a lot happening with Voltage Modular and there hasn’t been for years. It’s too bad.

I wasn't exactly "confusing the third party developers with Cherry Audio" technically because they release under Cherry Audio's website. But now I understand what you mean. Cherry has a pretty good range of stuff released for Voltage. It just needs more features. Maybe morphing/less cpu consumption/more Cherry plugin VM integration will come and stuff.

But, as one forum member shared the requests are better messaged to Cherry support. I think this thread could inspire forum members to make a feature list to submit to Cherry Audio sort of like a petition. I continually contact support with my favorite requests that they then forward to the programming group.

I don't think Voltage Modular has been abandoned at all. It's a mature product so it gets bug fixes when it needs it. Cherry Audio is not a big company so they have not got the resources to constantly update all their products. Sure there are things that I would like to see but they are not game changers, just small QOL things. VM remains an excellent product and I much prefer it to VCV.

Third party devs continue to support the product by releasing new modules and Cherry take a slice of those sales so they have an income stream from VM even if they don't release any modules themselves. We know that CA read this thread and the rest of the forums and the Facebook group so they are aware of the requests. They keep a database of all this stuff plus feedback from support and elsewhere.

As for a version 3, I've no idea. What I would say is that they would have to be very careful to maintain compatibility with the existing modules and with the existing SDK, which would limit some of their choices.

Personally, I think they have been doing great for both consumers and the business with the focus on quality recreations of (or tributes to) vintage instruments as well as some original Cherry Audio synths (also effects). I don't sell Voltage Modular modules, but from what I have seen they still do promote the developers who make a wide variety of modules with publicity including periodic sales.

I commend Gus for his efforts over the years to track and compile Voltage Modular "feature requests." Whether or not there will be changes to the the Voltage Modular software itself (as contrasted with modules) based on the requests, that still remains in the hands of the good folks at Cherry Audio.

If someone wants to organize petitions, protests, and maybe even VM-FESTS to rally the faithful, I imagine that as long as they are polite, respectful, and civil no one would object.
