Confused...

Post by somebodyelseuk »

Hi all.
Apologies up front as I'm not sure this a tech or even VM specific issue.

Bought the Synth Stack 2 this morning, however, I'm not seeing any additions to my VM modules. In fact, over the last year, I've bought the year one and two bundles and it doesn't seem like I have as many modules as I used to have.

I've followed the instructions on the orders page, and I've downloaded and installed the instrument VSTs.

What am I doing wrong?

Any help gratefully received.

The last time I looked, Synth Stack was mostly a collection of Instruments. If you already have VM's Plugin Host and Mini Plugin Host, you should be able to access Cherry Audio's Instruments through these plug-in hosts.

I see that it also includes VM Core + Electro Drums. If you didn't have that before getting Synth Stack 2, you might want to contact customer support. If you no longer have all the modules that are a part of the VM Year One and Year Two bundles, that seems like a problem for sure.

Can you run the Instruments in Standalone mode? Can you run them as plug-ins in another host such as a DAW? In my experience (Windows 10) when inserted as VST3s either in VM or a DAW, the plugin hosts give us control over tons of synth parameters including the ability to use M's CVs.

In addition, there are some modules that are similar to some of the components found in the CA Instruments. They are sold either as separate modules or as module bundles and might have a discount if you own the instruments. For example, there is a polymode module. There is also a SEM module bundle.

As I know, CA instruments are NOT VM modules. So you will not find these synths in VM library list.
If you want to use the instruments within VM, you should use a Mini Host module and insert your synth there.

Sorry chaps,
I think the message about stuff downloading automatically when I opened VM, when I bought the stack is what confused me. In all honesty, I bought it by accident, anyway, as I'd expected these were going to be VM Modules, and not instrument plugins, however, glad I bought them.

If you pop them into VM as VST3 plugins, each instrument can function as a very complex module controlled by other VM modules.
