Help Wanted: Show/Hide Cables Makes No Difference - SOLVED!

Post by Steve W »

VM: 2.0.25
Windows 10

I put UI Zoom back to 1X (had been 2X), put module magnification back to 100%, tried various others, too.
I refreshed.
I tried lots of different combinations in the Cables Settings.
The Cables Settings seem to do what I expect, but no matter what I try, I see no difference between the Show/Hide Cables button on or off.

What else should I try? Thanks.

SOLVED: Transparency had gotten moved to 0%.

I have the same problem and unfortunately, transparency doesn't change nothing.

Solved: in the settings / cables / transparent cables section, you have to select "All but current jack".

hi Phil,

thanks, but with "All but current jack" nothing is changed. Only current jack is 0% transparency.

As we said, a drawing is better than a speech ;)

You also have to set the transparency at 100 %. I know it sounds stupid and that's why I sough for a long time but 100 % transparency means... no transperency !

I've seen it for a long time: "100 % transparency" means cables are fully transparent and so are unvisible! :?

 After years it should be a task for CA to fix that in 2022. "Trancparency" is just the wrong labeling for that slider. For that what it does it should be "Opacity".

So far as I am concerned, my original issue was solved. So, I marked the thread SOLVED. I am not sure why "Transparency" is such an issue. Saying something is transparent to me is clearer than saying something is not opaque, in part because I believe opaque is a far less commonly used word. If someone cannot move the slider and see what it does, how on earth can they do modular synthesis? Yet, I would agree that to help avoid confusion, 0% should be 100% and vise versa if "Transparency" is used. "Opacity" is a shorter word, yes, but it could also be called "Cables." Then when people move the slider it will be clear. ;-)
