N-Step documentation extended

Post by ColinP »

The documentation for N-Step has been extended to include the following new sections:

* Syncing to a DAW
* Using multiple N-Step sequencers
* Running multiple sequencers at different speeds
* Hierarchical sequencing and some generative ideas
* Using different keys
* Using the Bernoulli gates

A simple yet interesting generative demo patch (that comes in two variants - for major and minor keys) is included for download...

I hope you get as much fun out of the generator patches as I have so far.

I'm slightly surprised by how good some of the tunes are especially given that it took me longer to describe the patches than it did to build them!

Generator Major is highly recommended for anyone with writer's block. On average about every eighth press of the GENERATE TUNE button produces something you could actually work up into a full piece.

One important tip for using Generator Minor is to turn the tempo down. The melancholic stuff it produces sounds daft played at 120 BPM. It's like a disco at a funeral by default. :roll:

I just knocked up a video to demonstrate what I meant about the Generate Major patch generating surprisingly interesting tunes.

This is the patch modified to drive a Granular Synth via the upcoming GS Multiplex module.

This tune popped up after about ten clicks of the *GENERATE TUNE* button.

Roland from P.moon has very kindly updated his PDF version of the N-Step documentation.

It's available for download from the P.moon website...
