Crackles in GX-80 1.0.13

Post by mefistophelees »

I re-downloaded everything now there's been a load of updates and GX-80 has started crackling like crazy.
As soon as you play it, the CPU bar jumps to 100%.

It appear to be a dual layer issue.
I can play 16 voices with 3 effects (not reverb) on a single layer at 4x oversampling and it's fine.
Dual layer crackles with 2 voices and no FX or oversampling.

Same. Latest version is unusable on my M1 Max.
Probably something to do with new multithreaded processing on Apple Silicon.

Hi,

We just released an update (build 149). It should install automatically if that's enabled in settings.

Please let us know whether it helps.

Hi,
This one is much better. I can use it at 96KHz with oversampling with all voices enabled, though it didn't like small buffer settings.

Thanks.

I didn't have any problems until the latest update, but it's horrendous with low buffer setting in 10.1.3 (B152) on my M1 Ultra Studio now. For example, '0 Blade' maxes out the CPU at a buffer size of 64 at 48KHz. Constant crackles and pops. Whatever you did, please fix or at least roll it back! Thanks.

Hello and first of all thank you for this wonderful piece of software - a great sound experience! Similar to Fraxis, it crackles earlier on my Mac Studio since version 1.0.13. As of build 152 complex presets are usable again at 48 KHz from 256 Samples. v1.0.9 was solid at 96 KHz, even on smaller buffer sizes.

Code: Select all

GX-80 version = 1.0.13
O/S = Mac OSX 13.2.1 (64 bits)
CPU Model = Apple M1 Ultra
CPU Speed = 0 MegaHz
RAM = 65536 MB
Display 0 DPI = 72 & scale = 1
Display 0  Size = 0 0 5120 1440 (MAIN)
Instance type = VST3
Host = Ableton Live 11

I have the same problems here. Trying various GX-80 presets, some seem OK, others cause the CPU meter in Logic to spike on one core, this is accompanied by cracking, even playing single notes. Trying in a newly created logic project with just one instrument track makes no difference. I rolled back to the previous two versions of GX-80, that did not help either. This is on a Mac Studio Ultra, I can't imagine that the computer is too slow! Hope a solution can be found soon.

kind regards

Mark

Starting to get really annoyed that a bug fix release still hasn't happened yet, despite being told by support that one was imminent many weeks ago. Could someone from Cherry Audio please give us an update on why this still hasn't ben released yet? Or how I can get a refund if there's no real effort being made to solve this?
