I then recreated the patch from scratch using LSSP chord sequencing rather than variations and everything went smoothly with no crashing at all.
The LSSP version has been added to the webpage at https://www.adroitsynthesis.com/andalus ... -appendix/ so if you have both GS and LSSP you can download it and check it out for yourself.
If you can come up with comparatve reports between the two versions that would be useful but my tentative conclusion is that the variations feature in VM is seriously buggy so I'm abandoning it for now.
