Files needing renamed after export from Sampler II

Post by Ian Craig »

Hi,
I have been building up an idea of using 12 units of the Sampler II module, all of which are set to record inputs, but where I have imported files into some of them. As the Sampler only recognises 1 minute samples I thought it would be convenient if I exported all samples named ready for easy reloading, so I was using the names 'Sampler II 01.001.wav', 'Sampler II 02.001.wav', etc so that I could save up to 999 projects of 12 samples.
Anyway, to get to the point  when the files are saved as .wav files they don't show up due to them being saved merely with the extension '.001'.
Please issue a fix for this, it would save a lot of time and confusion for users. Thanks. :D

Hi,

Does it work if you select Export?

If you rename the files that won't load to have an extension of .voltagesample do they load (into Sampler II)?

hi,
you are missing the point. Anything that has a dot as part of the filename gets saved as filetype .*** where *** equals the part of the chosen filename that occurs after the dot. This is not typical Windows behaviour since about Win95b. Obviously, in windows explorer the saved files can be located and renamed, but it shouldn't be necessary to do that. Is there some reason for not employing the Windows filenaming conventions that superceded DOS 6.22 ?

Hi,

Are we talking about Save or Export, or both? In either case, that's not what I'm seeing here. If I enter test 03.001 and hit OK, I get a file called test 03.001.voltagesample or test 03.001.wav, depending upon whether I choose Save or Export. I've got voltage 1.3.16 and build 30 of Sampler II.

Are you typing in "Sampler II 02.001" or "Sampler II 02.001.wav"?

I found If I typed in the latter with the Save option, I got a false .wav file that wouldn't play like a normal wav file, hence my previous comments.

So, in that case, Sampler II should probably just tack ".voltagesample" on the end.

If you're seeing it ending in .001, maybe you've got file extensions hidden? I couldn't get it to create a file with a .001 extension.

Hi,

If you right-click on Sampler II and select About, does it show build 30?

Hi,
no it's build 28. I thought the modules updated themselves everytime VM gets loaded. Obviously not, so how is it done ?

Hi,

Make sure you've got a good Internet connection, then try hitting the refresh button:
Voltage Modular refresh button.

You can also try going into Account settings and checking for updates.

Unfortunately, I have tried both of those and neither work either as a plugin or the standalone version. It's still build 28
