JK's Sample Scrubber Update!

Hi all,

Hope everyone is well.

I've published a small update to the Scrubber. https://store.cherryaudio.com/modules/j ... e-scrubber

There's input jacks for the scrubbing "range" (which can make for some pretty weird sounds given that play position will update itself based on the size of the range!).There are now left-click key combos for finding new samples (next, previous, random...see update note on store page for specifics). There is also FINALLY an option to save sample data with the module, instead of just file name!

That's it for now, but you'll be hearing from me again soon! ;)
(jeez, that sounds kind of creepy)

VM auto-updated my PC. The new features look very useful for some projects I have in mind. Thanks!!

Added input jacks to control scrubbing range. Input overrides knob value and maps 0 to 5 Volts from sample start to sample end. Uses absolute value of input voltage. Caps value at 5.
I am trying to use DC Voltages [DC Source module] to set the start point and the end point. The start seems to work as I expect, but I cannot use the same method to set the end. I assume I am misunderstanding how the input values work.

When I use the knobs, the left knob sets the relative position of the start and the right knob sets the relative position of the end. When I use a DC Source, the left input jack sets the start but the right input jack doesn't set the end.

I tried a number of buttons and knobs in the module, but I cannot set the end. I also tried a number of mathematical operations but I cannot get a DC voltage to set the endpoint.

Ultimately, I am trying to develop a patch to set the start and end points and using controls keep the distance between them the same while sliding both up and down the sample [fixed sample length]. Using a triangle wave (LFO) I can get a symmetrical rhythmic forward/reverse playing of the sample segment (using fold) [constant forward and reverse playback rate], but only once I use the knobs to set start and end.

Any suggestions on how to do either of these? Thanks.

Range: Set the points to use as the start and end position of the sample. The end can move before the start and will simply reverse playback. The provided input jacks can be used as well. Any input will override the knob settings. Expected input is 0 to 5 volts (absolute value), which maps from the beginning to end of the sample.
I tried a few more things, but cannot get any voltage input on the end jack to change the end point. Can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Suggestions?

Yikes. Thank you for posting this.

Apparently this is a stupid bug that should have never slipped by. I have already fixed it and submitted the fix for approval so hopefully I'll be able to publish it within the next couple days at the most. Sorry for this!

Also, just out of curiosity, I tried out your idea once I had the fix implemented, and it does work and it's a very cool idea. I used a DC source, hooked the top output to both jacks (start and end), then hooked the second output to just the end jack to use as a constant offset to set the length of the movable section (with the top DC controlling its position of course).

Anyway, sorry again for the issue! :?

Thanks for the quick reply and the upcoming fix. Glad you were able to find the problem and fix it so quickly. I really like what I have been able to do with the scrubber so far. :)

YUP!!!

Thanks so much for the fast turnaround! It now does what I was trying to do. :)
