DCO-106 Polyphonic Synthesizer is not part of Voltage Modular. Because it was posted in this part of the forum, I assumed it was, leading to a purchase I wouldn't have made otherwise. So thanks?

Isn't there a 14 or 30 day money back guarantee? There was during the sale.

just off at a tangent...My first synth was juno 6 . I never thought that much of it. Traded it for a Korg DW8000 I think which was awful and an Alpha juno 1 later(?) which I tolerated. Moog, sequential, E-MU, ARP, were all the ones to aspire to then but far too expensive. Apart from the jupiter 8 (which again was too expensive) Roland didn't really do it for me. It's strange to me how these synths (sh101 too) are revered so much today. I do remember an early yellowey-keyed string machine of theirs quite fondly though.

that is odd, - a shame that they apparently haven't done what softube has done with their new model 72 synth (moog model d clone) - have it both as a standalone and also you can load it as modules in the softube modular software. But I'd be more interested in cool modules, since I'm here for modular synthesis.

Yup, confusing indeed.
Fortunately I clicked Demo instead of Buy only to find it odd that there was a installer download and the demo wasn't showing up in VM.

Then I decided to read the announcement more carefully (to the end) and found out that this was a VST/standalone.

Having DCO-60 already, this whole experience was very confusing and the Demo... Well, I stopped using it when hearing the horrible feedback noise audio watermark the 2nd time.

Likewise. I do understand though that CA are trying broaden their user base.

We have started a new forum section for the DCO. We are broadening our base and many users expressed that they wanted to see the DCO module as a plugin so we built it.

Sorry for the confusion. We still have many modules planned and there are great 3rd party modules being created all the time.

I am working on a piano roll module with full editing and recording abilities, as an example. I hope VM users will like it. :)

If it's anything like that ToyboxAudio reaktor blocks piano-roll module then I will definitely like it :)

martb,

What features do you like the most for a piano roll module?

I agree that making VSTs it’s not the way to go. The product that gave Cherry Audio a name is Voltage Modular and I think most VM owners would prefer more news and modules in the modular realm. Softube launched their utterly brillian Doepfer inspired Softube Modular and after the initial frenzy of third party modules they let it fade away with almost no new modules in months. The uber famous open source virtual modular VCV Rack has a base of thousands of users and developers providing lots of new modules almost everyday most of them free. Cherry Audio should concentrate on expanding the community of users with developers of hardware modular as Erica, Befaco or Mutable Instruments porting their hardware modules to software (just like VCV Rack does). Having installed VCV Rack with his vast library of third party modules I think overall sound quality is slighty better in Voltage Modular. But VCV Rack shows the way to go for Cherry Audio: STAY IN THE SOFTWARE MODULAR REALM AND MAKE IT A STRONG MODULAR PLATTFORM. Today VCV Rack has a community of users and developers almost as big as the users of hardware eurorack. THAT’S THE WAY TO GO. Forget about the already crowded VST softynth emulations market. They are thousands of them. We don’t need more VST softsynths please. I think most of us are here because we want to be part of a worlwide ever expanding modular synth community.
