Mercury 4 Oscillator modelling

Mercury-4 is a detailed emulation of one of the best-sounding and quirkiest polyphonic synthesizers of the late 1970's, the Roland Jupiter-4.

Mercury 4 Oscillator modelling

Post by echothief »

Hi,

Was wondering how CA modelled the Mercury 4 OSC"s. I read this on AM Synths page about the JP4 which is very interesting and explains why the J4 sounds is so unique?

https://amsynths.co.uk/home/products/os ... ter-4-vco/

a 555 Timer chip was used to create a Saw wav from a Square wav hence the rough stepping creating the harmonics, same for the Envelopes, pretty whacky design due to hardware limitations at the time.

I love the Mercury 4 though, its one of the best emulations out there
