The Demo experience.

Hopefully this will be considered as a positive and helpful criticism:

The Demo experience is horrible.
Why have a demo licence and an account registration if the demo is also noise watermarked?

If there's an account with a demo license, can't that be a time-limited trial licence? If yes, why the noise watermark?

It would be understandable if there was no account or licence to track the time-limitation, though... this feedback noise is so abnoxious that I deleted DCO-106 when I heard it the 2nd time.

So in my case, a pure time-limitless noise watermarked demo would be pointless to actually demo the thing

Anyway, the price is absolutely inviting but I own DCO-60 and I prefer the Voltage Modular experience, though still thinking that instrument modules should have MIDI in.

For the record, we've replaced the somewhat grating demo noise with a rather pleasant bit of noise, that sounds like ocean waves rolling in. We've also made this happen less frequently.

Unfortunately, watermarking of this nature is necessary, as it is otherwise possible to roll back system clocks and do other nasty tricks to try to fool the software into thinking the demo has not expired. It is an unfortunate necessity in the modern world.

oh! hmmm... but wait, if we need to login, aren't you (the server, dealing with the login, validating the licence) aware of the issue date of the license + today's date?

It's great that the noise type and frequency was reworked and that's nice but, the rollback clock trick, wouldn't that only be an issue on local/non-networked type of license validation ?

Unless you're allowing a way to validate the license off-line (I didn't check, I'm always online).

Anwyay, I'm just trying to help with my immediate reaction to the demo. As I said (elsewhere) I wasn't even going to demo it since I own the DCO-60 modules and a few other Juno emulation VSTs already... though I must confess, the current price is impulse-buy heavy!

PS: ah yes, I've even checked my https://store.cherryaudio.com/my/settings/devices and it's showing "PS DCO-106 Oct 1, 2020" so it knows when it got activated (I guess)
Also, I just tried it again and sure thing, this noise is totally more pleasing though still effective to "ruin" any misuse besides demoing the product
