FIXED: An installation of Mac OSX 10.14 from 10.13 has eliminated the crackles.
I have tested this quickly with 3 instances of the Plug-in Host module running Arturia Buchla V (AU) , Kontakt 6 (VST) and Reaktor 6 (VST)
