Re: self-playing patch & Trigger Jack.

Looking at the full-sized images, it looks like the triggers are fed back Envelope Generators, apparently to cause a continuous retrigger. With that info, I'd suggest patching the PS-20's Env Out to the two EG's Gate In jacks. Hmmn. Looks like that's what Jean d'Oran suggested, as well. Well, that's...

Re: self-playing patch & Trigger Jack.

I tried to replicate this patch, but the labels are all too small in your graphics, so I couldn't figure out what everything on the Korg was. I suppose the question you need to answer is, "What function does the signal on the problem cable perform in the Korg patch?" Once you know that, yo...

Re: MC-4 Microcomposer sequencer module ?

Hey, we used to do sound editing that way in Vladimir Ussachevsky's Electronic Music Lab, although we didn't use film; we sliced and spliced segments of audio tape in the kinds of shapes you see on those film segments. Ah, those weren't the days. :D

Re: Strange SmoothValue results

I know this was mentioned in the thread Grant quoted, Roland, but are you making sure to access GetSmoothValue() once, and only once per sample? That can certainly make a difference in how it behaves, as that's the only time it gets updated, as I understand it (and without re-reading the other threa...

Re: How to create a CR-78 snare drum in VM?

Okay, here's a version of the patch I posted done almost entirely in more common modules. Sorry, but couldn't do anything about the Frequency Shifter, because so far as I know, no one's got a free one. To my ear it doesn't sound quite as crisp, and you can definitely get the EGs to trip up with fast...

Re: How to create a CR-78 snare drum in VM?

For what it's worth, when I posted my patch, I wasn't concerned with replicating the CR-78 sound so much as I was just implementing the patch from the article Colin posted. I choose the modules largely for audio reasons. I've had poor results creating drums using CA's free modules, and I did want a ...

Re: How to create a CR-78 snare drum in VM?

Interesting articles, Colin. I got interested and banged together a version of the one he says is too complicated. You can get some really interesting sounds out of it, depending on whether you choose VCA responses of linear or exponential, where you set the VCO Octaves, and how you balance things. ...
